We know it can be a bit intimidating walking into a church for the first time, and we want to be sure you have a great experience at Fairview Community Church. So here’s some “know before you go” info to help you plan your visit:
We’re a small family-size church, and in an era where we’re surrounded by mega churches, we think it’s nice to have personalized churches where your presence doesn’t go unnoticed. No one is invisible here!
When we say “come as you are” we mean it. Most of us don’t “dress up” for church. We’re informal and what some might consider “Low Church.”
What’s “Low Church”? Glad you asked. Well, “High Church” is very formal and liturgical like the Roman Catholic Church or the Episcopal Church. “Low Church” is less formal, we still do a lot of standing and sitting and we do have liturgy (call and response prayer to begin our worship) but we are much more relaxed. Our pastor doesn’t wear a robe, our music is pretty contemporary and everyone is welcome to communion.
Our service begins at 10:00 a.m., and while you’re welcome to get here early, don’t be surprised if some of our members are cruising in at 10:01am (remember we’re informal). We will start our service with singing (words shown on the screen in the sanctuary) and greetings! This is followed by words of reflection, call and response, more singing, and a prayer time. All present are welcome to offer their joys and concerns for our prayer time.
We end the service with one more song, a benediction (closing words from our pastor) and then we sing our favorite song: “Carry the Light!” We hope you’ll feel energized to go out and change the world with us, carrying God’s light of love out to shine brightly in the dark places of our lives and world.
Our service lasts about one hour. On Communion Sundays (the first Sunday of the month) it may last until 11:15 a.m. Following the worship service we invite you to join us on our patio for a time of community. We’ll have healthy snacks, coffee, and an opportunity to chat with others.
What about My Kids?
We do not have a formal Kids Time or Sunday School during our services. You are welcome to have your children be a part of our Sunday service. We are a family-friendly church and families of all kinds are welcome!
Let us know you’re coming!
